Gratitude Brings Us Back to Peace

Lately, I've been sitting with how important it is to truly show gratitude to the people around us — especially those who give their time, love, energy, support, or kindness to us.

Most of us know what it feels like to not be appreciated. To feel unseen, unheard, or as though the things we do are simply expected.

And it made me reflect…

How can I expect others to appreciate me if I'm not consciously appreciating them?

But even deeper than that, I've realised I don't want to live from a place of expectation at all.

When we constantly focus on what we wish someone would do, what we think we deserve, or what we feel we aren't receiving, it can become so easy to overlook what is already being given to us.

Gratitude shifts our attention from "What am I not getting?" to "What have I already been given?"

It reminds us to notice the small things:

  • To say thank you.
  • To acknowledge someone's effort.
  • To appreciate love while it is present.
  • To see the blessings we may have begun taking for granted.

There is such a beautiful sense of peace in releasing expectation and simply being grateful for what is here.

Not because we should accept being undervalued, but because our peace doesn't have to depend on someone else giving us more.

Sometimes the change we're waiting to see around us begins with what we choose to cultivate within ourselves.

And lately, I'm choosing gratitude.

I hope this inspires you on your journey.

Peace, Love and Blessings
